Visa Summary

This visa is for invited workers and New Zealand citizens with skills Australia needs, to live and work permanently anywhere in Australia.This skilled visa is for the people who do not have an eligible employer/business/relative or state/territory to sponsor them, or for eligible New Zealand Citizens.

This visa type has two major streams

Points Tested Stream:

In this stream skilled workers needs to pass the pool marks on the points table. You have to have a skilled occupation on the relevant skills list. Applicant needs to get a suitable skills assessment. You need to submit an expression of interest (EOI) and must receive an invitation to be eligible to apply for the visa. For most of the occupations, you need more points on the points table in order to receive direct invitation to apply for the visa.

New Zealand Stream:

This visa lets eligible New Zealand citizens with a New Zealand Special Category (subclass 444) visa live and work in Australia permanently. You do not need a sponsor/eligible occupation/skills assessment in order to apply for this type of visa. You must have lived in Australia for at least 5 years that started on or before 19 February 2016.. You should have a taxable income at or above an income threshold for each of the four completed income years prior to lodging an application.

  • Age requirements must be met

  • Must have a health insurance
  • Must not have your previous visa cancelled or refused
